Project 1
Instructable Poster
To do:
- Find the channel (Pasta Grannies) and search for the recipe to use
- Decide the Art direction
- Make a sketch on how the Infographic would look like
Video used:
Tiramisu by Pasta Grannies
Colors : Mainly beige, and then brown
Ornaments : Tiramisu splashes (cocoa powder or coffee splashes)
Focal Point : The tiramisu dish in the centre
For art direction wise, it's already clear, though the composition wise, it
is too blocky, lack of flow. Find new references to get a better
composition.

Fig 2.5 - References
I am mainly inspired with the Crepes Recipe layout, however the flow in that reference is quite off, so other references are more inspirations for the steps. I decided to add more illustrations as I feel that some steps are lacking of clarity.

Fig 4.0 - Storyboard
This is how the overall storyboard would look like, integrating the animations of how each page would be presented. The art style is made accordingly with the previous poster, which is watercolor. Hence, all the elements will be drawn again based on how the animation will be made.
Animatics
For the Animatics, I make it using procreate and discuss it with my partner
on how the overall animation would be. We decided to make it into a recipe
book and pan each steps from it.
Animation Stage:
For the first animation stage, we used a table background at first.
However, according to Mr. Martin's feedback, it looks too dull and better
to be changed. For the animation itself, I use mainly these tools:
- Liquify : I liquify the yolk to put it in the bowl
- Position : I made the position change, from top to the bowl
- Rotate : I rotate the egg shell accordingly with the movement

For this stage its quite long, but the process is quite repetitive
like the previous one. I also removed the table background because it
looked to dull according to the feedback I received.
- Liquify : I liquify the sugar,
- Position : The ingredients and utensils
- Rotate : The ingredients and utensils
- Shape : When the mixture changed after mixing, I use the shape tool and liquify it a bit

For this stage, it would be a stop motion. Here are the tools I
used
- Position : The ingredients and utensils
- Rotate : The ingredients and utensils
- Color : To change the before and after the biscuit after the coffee
- Masking : For the biscuits in the edges, so it doesn't overlap the container
|
Fig 4.4 - Progress Animation 4
For this stage, I add the text and panned the pages, zooming it one
by one. The initial plan was to animate the text by having it slowly
fading in per text. However, due to the limitation of processor and
RAM, this plan was not able to be executed, so we fade in the entire
text in one go. Here are the tools I used.
- Null : Null layer to change the
- Position : The position of the book,
- Scale : The size of the book, zoom in and out naturally
- Opacity : To animate the fade in and out
- Spacing : To fix the spacing and strokes of the text so it remained readable

Same as previous, this time for the ingredients. I included all the
elements draw before hand, also the one that I have included in the
poster. Moreover
- Null : Null layer to change the
- Position : The position of the book,
- Scale : The size of the book, zoom in and out naturally
- Opacity : To animate the fade in and out the steps texts

Feedbacks
Week 5
Consultation 1:
Personal poster:
For art direction wise, it's already clear, though the composition wise, it is
too blocky, lack of flow. Find new references to get a better composition.
Group:
Storyboard is already okay, can proceed
Week 6
Consultation 1:
Make the animatics first before jumping into animation. Change the background
color, the bowl color
Consultation 2:
Synchronize the style of the animation, the fade in and fade out, for the egg
crack make the movement faster.
Week 7
Consultation 1:
Overall okay, but need to discuss what kind of animation would it be when the
pages are flipped
Consultation 2:
Step 1 and Step 4 got overlayed. For the last part, "voila", wait the spoon to pan before zooming to the Project by. Some steps are too wordy, you can either animate it or just highlight the important keywords. There is a glitch in step 4. For the ingredients part, its too fast, make it slower and zoom more.
