Final Reflection
Through out this module, I have learnt about the importance of Design Principles when creating an artwork. Learning these theories brings me knowledge on how to implement my ideas properly with these principles. I never knew that this module would cover a lot of design principles that I have never thought of, for example the Gestalt Theory.
I enjoy doing Task 2 and Task 3 because I am able to showcase my drawing skills. This past modules I have taken doesn't really have drawing and this module gave me a chance to use my drawing skills. Although there were several challenges when making sketches, but I still find a little joy in it.
However, I do not really enjoy doing Task 1. It was challenging for me to find the artwork I like. It was really broad, I struggled on what kind of artwork I should pick, but eventually I thought of a movie poster because they have obvious design principles. Additionally, I found the lecture quite hard to understand at first, but since we are encourage to find the examples ourselves, I have deepen my understandings towards the design principles. Overall, this module is enjoyable.
Through the assignments I have gone through, I have realized that my skills are getting better. When doing task 3, I needed lesser time to draw a portrait compare to back then. It was also challenging for me having the idea in mind but unable to pour out my thoughts towards the sketches. It took me some time to be able to illustrate the idea I had, but I learnt that exploring more ideas could help me to solidify the ideas I have.
Moreover, I become more critical when I see designs in my every day life, especially to my own artwork. I notice the designs that are made properly minding the design principles and designs that are made without proper placements. This means that my mind towards design has evolved.
For instance, my aspiration is to use the knowledge I have learnt in this module for my future projects. I will explore more techniques and implement the principles I have learnt in my future projects.
