    • Select the subjects to intertwine > Object > Intertwine > Make
    • Later it will turn into a Lasso Tool, Select areas that overlap to intertwine

  • 3D materials
    • layers that control how a 3D object looks when rendered.
    • Select subject > Effect > 3D materials
    • There are several options according to what kind of effect we want to achieve

Task 3: Poster Design - Typography

Sketch
Fig 2.1 - Reference and sketch

I sent two of the sketches I made and the reference I am inspired of. My sketch was trying to make the word SWEET as the spotlight.

Fig 2.2 - New sketch

After receiving feedbacks from Mr.Hafiz, he mentioned that it would be better if I use my second reference when making the word SWEET. By that, I came up with two sketches of the word sweet. The first one has a better font, though the second one has better flow, so I went with my second sketch.

Mr. Hafiz recommended me to use a photography of ice cream because it relates more with my quote. By that, I changed my sketch and use my ice cream photography at the background. This is my final sketch

Execution

Text Inflate Tutorial

Fig 2.4 - Attempt 1

At this attempt, the word Sweet is already good but it could be larger, it also does not flow well with the rest of the words, especially with the word MAKE IT.

Fig 2.5 - Attempt 2

At this attempt, the poster is already much better. There is more flow within the words. However, Mr Hafiz suggested to make the swirls from the beginning to the end, meaning it could start with the word “Life” all the way to the last letter of “T”.

He also added to use pink color for the word SWEET so it matches with the ice cream and sprinkles.

Fig 2.6 - Attempt 3

At this attempt, the poster is already much better. However I feel like the swirls are too excessive and needs to be edit. It also looks off in terms of composition. Moreover, when I tried to add sprinkles in the word SWEET, it became overcrowded. So I decided to not put any more ornaments.

Reflection

My experience when designing a poster was quite challenging. I had to make sure the pictures I used correlates with the quote I am using. It was an experience using the 3D effect. It makes my poster more alive especially with the ice cream as object. I experience making a poster using my own photography, which I would be doing again in the future. I realize that making and manipulating fonts plays a big role in a poster. While making it larger and unique, it will catch people's attention. I learn on how to compose these words well.

Moreover, during this poster project, I am engaged to observe every detail of the poster, especially when its taken score from 2 modules. The nodes of each stroke must be minimal to ensure the smoothness of the object. I used intertwine, 3D material, also pencil and brush tool.
